Goseikan Kendo is pleased to announce we will be hosting a new Kendo Taikai: Go Ryu Ki. We are thrilled to invite all Kendoka to compete in this inaugural event.

Go Ryu Ki will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Chicago, IL. For this inaugural event, we will be doing teams only, with the main division having both round robin pods, followed by a single elimination component. We are also planning to have women’s only teams, youth teams, and senior teams, registration depending.

Pre-registration for this event is now open, and is the best way to stay informed as information is announced. We encourage all who are interested to pre-register. We are also accepting volunteers, and appreciate any and all who will offer their time to help make this event a success.

Location, pricing, and details around hotels and banquets are being finalized, and we will release this information in the coming weeks.

Divisions: Adult Teams (5 person, 18+, podded round robin followed by bracket single elimination), Women Teams (3 person, single elimination), Senior Teams (3 person, 50+, single elimination), Youth Teams (ages TBD, round robin).
