Good Day and Happy New Year!

Goseikan Kendo is excited to invite all practicing Kendoka to start the new year with an exciting opportunity — to practice with two 8th Dan Sensei! On Sunday, January 26, Goseikan will host a Kenma-Kai seminar, with special guests Shozo Kato Sensei, Kyoshi 8th Dan, from Shidogakuin, and Noriyasu Gonpei Sensei, 8th Dan, from Keishicho. Kenma-kai is an open event where Kendo practitioners from all dojos can come together to train with one another, and aim to improve oneself as well as those around us.

We are grateful and humbled to have the privilege of welcoming thee two sensei from New York and Tokyo to this event. Kato Sensei and Gonpei Sensei will lead the keiko, giving those in attendance a chance to learn from and practice with them. Whether you are looking to prepare for upcoming taikai, shinsa, or improve your Kendo, this is a great event that brings Kendoka from all around the Midwest together and grow together.

The event will take place on Sunday afternoon at Jones College Prep in the South Loop of Chicago. The event will run from 3-6 pm, with a reception to follow. Event details are below, and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Goseikan. If you are coming from outside of the city and wish to stay the night, we can provide hotel options for you and your dojo members near campus. We are here to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We hope to see all of you on 1/26!
